Animated Diaries of War: SUMY
For me, this project is on the border between journalism, animation and researching new technology. In other words, this is an animated film created in cooperation with the newest AI models, based on an original interview with 11-year-old Milana Ostapenko who survived Russian bombing in her birth town of Sumy in the north-east of Ukraine. The main concept of the project is the contrast of 2022 as a year of new technology and the anachronism of Russian aggression. This is an attempt to create a visual for a child’s memories of war and simultaneously to get those interested in animation and neural networks but not yet in the war in Ukraine to think about it.
